أطول شجرة في العالم ارتفاعها 1251 متراً

تمكّن أستاذ علوم في ولاية كاليفورنيا من تحديد مكان وجود أطول وأقدم شجرة معروفة في العالم يبلغ ارتفاعها حوالي 3791 قدماً ما يعادل 1251 متراً" في حديقة ردوود الوطنية بشمالي كاليفورنيا .

وكان عالمان طبيعيان قد اكتشفا الشجرة لدي قيامهما بمسح أشجار الصبغ الأحمر العملاقة واتصلا بأستاذ العلوم الطبيعية ب...جامعة هامبولت بولاية كاليفورنيا البروفسور ستيف سيليت الخبير العالمي الرائد في علم البيئة والمظلات الشجرية . وذكرت صحيفة التايمز أن سليت قام بقياس الشجرة من الأعلي إلي الأسفل.

وأكّد أن الشجرة التي أطلق عليها اسم هيبريون هي أطول بحوالي 9 أقدام "حوالي 2.7 متر" من شجرة ستراتوسفير العملاقة التي كانت تحمل الرقم القياسي العام السابق وكانت أطول شجرة في العالم تم قياسها في القرن التاسع عشر ميلادي وبلغ ارتفاعها 414 قدماً "حوالى 136 متراً" في وادي لين بولاية بريتيش كولومبيا في كندا، لكنها لم تعد موجودة الآن ورفض المسؤولون في حديقة ردوود العامة في كاليفورنيا تحديد المكان الدقيق لوجود الشجرة خوفاً من تعريضها للتخريب أو أن يؤدي تسلّق الأطفال أو الهواة عليها إلى إلحاق الضرر بها.
