الصياغ السوريون معروفون بإبداعهم على مستوى العالم فــي مجــال الذهب حسبما قال رئيــس جمعيــة الصاغــة جــورج صارجــي وهــذا ما اعتبره مفارقة كبيرة حيث يختم بقوله «لا يوجــد ترتيــب عالمــي لسوريــة، وذلــك لسبــب بسيــط وهو أن سورية غير مشتركة في مجلس الذهب العالمي كدولــة، وهــذا ما يجعلنا نجهل تصنيفنا، ذلك بالرغم من أن 70% من أعضاء مجلس الذهب العالمي سوريون، وهي مفارقة كبيرة أن تكون هذه النسبة من أعضاء المجلس سوريين، وسورية ليست عضوا أساسا بهذا المجلس».

ولكن وللأسف فليس كل مايكتب بالصحافة يكون صحيحاً والذهب يتحكم به أقلية من أكثر الناس شراً في العالم وهم ليسوا سوريين.
من المؤسف أن نرى تصريحات لاتمت للواقع بصلة، فرئيس جمعية الصاغة يصرح (ماهو مشار له بالأحمر)، وينتقل تصريحه من صحيفة لأخرى ولا أحد يفتش عن صحة التصريح من عدمه.
